CVG COCO • VERMICULITE • GYPSUM Sterile Bulk Substrate
The reliable, low-drama base for clean colonization and dense pinsets.
WHY CVG
CVG is a balanced, beginner-friendly bulk substrate that keeps things simple: low nitrogen, low bacterial load, and great structure. It holds moisture, breathes well, and gives your spawn a stable runway to rip through and fruit hard.
WHAT’S INSIDE
-
Washed, buffered coco coir for structure and steady hydration
-
Asbestos-free, horticulture-grade vermiculite (U.S. sourced) for moisture retention and aeration
-
OMRI-listed gypsum (calcium sulfate) to stabilize pH and support strong mycelial run
FEATURES
-
Ready to use—no prep or pasteurizing
-
Consistent texture for even colonization
-
Low contamination risk when handled cleanly
-
Ideal as a stand-alone bulk or as a base in mixed recipes
HOW TO MIX (SPAWN:SUBSTRATE)
Start with 1 colonized grain spawn bag to 2–3 bags of CVG.
Higher spawn rates can shorten colonization and help outcompete contaminants.
BEST PRACTICES
-
Work clean: wash hands, wear nitrile/latex gloves, and keep your workspace tidy.
-
Break up and mix thoroughly so spawn is evenly distributed—aim for a fine, airy surface micro-texture.
STORAGE

Bruise Blue Substrates make Canopies
Our subs are built for canopy runs—nutrient-dense, truly sterile, and tuned for the texture and moisture your mycelium wants to rip through. Pair them with clean, fully colonized grain at a solid spawn ratio (think 1:2–1:4), mix evenly, and you’ll set the stage for fast colonization, tight knotting, and wall-to-wall pinsets. The structure holds moisture without going soggy, so fruits develop thick and even under proper FAE and humidity. Do your part on cleanliness and environment; Sour subs handle the rest—flat, full canopies that make tubs look like fields.

Organic Grains | Better Runs
Because they’re clean, consistent, and built to colonize fast. Our organic grain bags start with responsibly sourced organic grain, hydrated for optimal moisture and pressure-sterilized in-bag for a true blank slate. The kernel size and texture are dialed to maximize surface area (read: more inoculation points, faster run times) without turning mushy or clumpy. Each bag ships with a filter patch and self-healing injection port, lot-tracked and QC-checked so you know exactly what you’re working with. Result: aggressive, even colonization, fewer headaches, and reliable performance at scale—exactly what “best” should feel like in a grow room.
